Apple has unveiled its latest devices, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. According to the company the latest devices will feature a much faster 64-bit A9 processor chip. to add to the specs, the devices will come with a 12MP rear-facing camera as well as a 3D touch system for enhanced control of the smartphone’s features.
Apple revealed that the device’s processor is 70 percent faster than previous chips. The company also revealed that the GPU performance is 90 percent faster than its predecessor. With the new device revealed, Apple also stated that it will have an improved battery life when compared to previous devices.
The faster processor will power Apple’s new iOS 9 operating system, which was previewed earlier in 2015. The 3D Touch system senses different levels of pressure, what Apple calls ‘Peek and Pop’. Users can press lightly to ‘peek’ at a photo, email, web page or other content, and press slightly harder to open fully the content. With the Quick Actions feature, 3D Touch allows a simple press on the home screen to go directly to common functions such as sending a message or taking a photo.
The 12-megapixel back camera also comes with the new Live Photos feature, to capture the moments immediately before and after the shot was taken in order to provide an enhanced view of the event. Apple has also added optical image stabilisation and support for 4K (3840×2160 resolution) to the video camera on the iPhone 6s Plus. The front 5-megapixel camera comes with Retina Flash, which momentarily makes the display three times brighter to capture pictures in low light. The latest iPhones also include support for LTE Advanced and 23 LTE spectrum bands, the most in any smartphone worldwide, Apple said.
In the US, Apple has offered consumers an easier way to pay off the device. Consumers can now pay 24 monthly installments of USD 27 and USD 31 respectively at Apple’s retail stores, According to Apple, both models will launch 25 September in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK, with pre-orders beginning 12 September.
