There’s still a lot we don’t know about the new Apple TV, but at least one question has been answered: when you can get your hands on one. Both the 32 ($149) and 64 ($199) GB versions are now available for pre-order in the United States and expected to be ready elsewhere soon.
In New York, at least, Apple says the device could arrive as early as Oct. 30 with expedited shipping. According to 9to5Mac, the US, UK, Canada, and Australia are among the 80 countries where the device will launch. The pricing, however, may depend on your location. It’ll run €179 for 32 GB and €229 for 64 GB in Europe; £129 and £169 in the UK; or $199 and $269 in Canada.
The streaming player comes with the redesigned remote, power cables, and an Apple Lightning cable, but you’ll need to use or buy your own HDMI cable (Apple offers one as a $19 add-on at checkout—about $15 more than what it’d cost you on Amazon). It will reportedly start showing up in retail stores the first week of November—the same week it should arrive if you order today with standard shipping.
The competition for streaming supremacy is heating up, with Amazon,Google, and Roku all announcing new devices in the last month alone. But the Apple TV is easily the one with the most hype. It’s been several years since the company updated its TV box, and CEO Tim Cook has promised a revolutionary new device that will lead the world into the future of television.
“The future of television is apps,” Cook said, at the launch event. Now we’ll see if he delivers.
