Quick succession of terrorist attacks has officials worried

Armed guards patrol Marhaba beach during a visit by British Home Secretary Theresa May on June 29.The scenes were horrific: Vacationers snapped from their naps by the sound of gunfire. The screams of the injured. Blood on the beach.
The attack Friday at a Tunisian beach resort killed at least 18 Britons, but officials said Monday the actual number was likely to be 30. That would make it by far the deadliest terrorist attack on Britons since the London transport bombings 10 years ago.
Yet it was just one of three terrorist attacks on three continents that followed one another in frightening succession last week. While it is not yet known whether the attacks were linked, they have left officials in numerous countries concerned about how to keep their citizens safe.

A series of terrifying attacks

-- On Friday morning, European time, the head of the decapitated manager of a transportation company was found hanging from a fence near Lyon, in southern France, along with two banners said to bear Islamic writing. The attack, at a U.S.-owned factory, began when a delivery van, allegedly driven by Yassin Salhi, entered the facility, according to Paris Prosecutor Francois Molins, whose office handles anti-terrorism cases throughout France.
-- Not long after that, a bomb ripped through Al-Sadiq mosque in Kuwait's capital during Friday prayers -- a time when mosques are packed with worshippers. At least 27 people were killed. ISIS has posted a video of a man it claims is the suicide bomber, identifying him as Abu Suleiman al-Muwahid -- presumably a nom de guerre.
-- Then came news that a gunman had sprayed a tourist beach in Sousse, Tunisia, with bullets, killing at least 38 people and injuring at least 39 others. ISIS has claimed responsibility for that attack, as well, though this claim may be more tenuous.

11 Differences Between Busy People And Productive People

Image result for productivityI spent a day with the world’s number one ultraman Kilian Jornet back in 2010. He told me about the difference between his life in the mountains and the life he sees in the city.
Kilian spends most of his life in the mountains. He will run up and down Everest next year. He has already run up and down Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Montblanc and Cervino (setting the record for the fastest ascent on each). He says that he knows his destination, but is often doubtful about the exact path – he is very aware of surroundings, of changes in the weather, of loose rocks. He is constantly adjusting his path.
He told me that a few times a year he arrives into the city of Barcelona in his campervan. He parks. He gets out. He sees people walking confidently up and down the street. Everyone is walking with such confidence. They look so sure in their intention. They are sure of their steps… but they have no idea where they are going.
This is one of the differences between busy people and productive people. Read on to find out what this difference is and to get to know 10 more differences.

    1. Busy people want to look like they have a mission. Productive people have a mission for their lives.

Busy people hide their doubt about the destination of their lives by acting confident in their little steps.
Productive people allow others to see the doubt in their little steps because they are clear on the destination.

    2. Busy people have many priorities. Productive people have few priorities

    Image result for productivity
Nobody is ever too busy, if they care they will make time. Life is a question of priorities. If you have 3 priorities, you have priorities. If you have 25 priorities, you have a mess. The pareto priniciple is that 80% of your desired results come from 20% of your activity. Henry Ford built a fortune not by building better cars, but by building a better system for making cars. Busy people try to make better cars, productive people develop better systems for making cars.

    3. Busy people say yes quickly. Productive people say yes slowly

Warren Buffet’s definition of integrity is: “You say no to most things”.
If you don’t say “no” to most things, you are diving your life up into millions of little pieces spread out amongst other people’s priorities. Integrity is that your values are clear and that your time is going to serve those values.

Ex-militants demand SA on amnesty programme

Thousands of ex-militants in Phase One, Second Phase and Third Phase of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, yesterday, marched through major roads in Warri, Delta State, to request President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgency, fill the vacant position of Special Adviser on amnesty programme in the Presidency.

The trio of Mr. Preye Ekpebide, Mr. Ayakpo Niekebi and Mr. Founkoro Dia, leaders of ex-militants from Delta, Bayelsa and Ondo states for the three phases of the amnesty programme, endorsed Mr. Daunemugha as their preferred choice to occupy the position of Special Adviser or Chairman, Presidential Amnesty Programme.

They maintained that they had projected Daunemugha whom they described as a youth that has the interest of the region at heart, trust worthy and a bridge builder to fill the vacant position of SA to the President Amnesty Programme.
They noted that Daunemugha is a strong supporter APC and a youth mobiliser, stressing that if given the opportunity to serve at the federal level, he will bring his experience to bear and make youths of the region cooperate with the Federal Government.source vanguard

With the increasing incidents of compromise on conventional security systems (password and PIN), there is a high demand for greater security for access to sensitive or personal information in the Banking System. In recent times, biometric technologies have been used to analyze human characteristics as an enhanced form of authentication for real-time security processes.

Biometrics refers to identifying an individual based on physiological or behavioral attributes – fingerprint, signature etc.

The Central Bank of Nigeria through the Banker’ Committee and in collaboration with all banks in Nigeria on February 14, 2014 launched a centralized biometric identification system for the banking industry tagged Bank Verification Number (BVN).
    THE BENEFITS
    • BVN gives a unique identity that can be verified across the Nigerian Banking Industry (not peculiar to one Bank)
    • Customers Bank Accounts are protected from unauthorized access
    • It will address issues of identity theft, thus reduce exposure to fraud
    • The BVN will enhance the Banking Industry chances of being able to fish out blacklisted customers
    • Reduce queue in Banking Halls
    • Standardized efficiency of Banking operations
    • The Customers unique BVN is accepted as a means of identification across ALL Nigerian Banks
the Central Bank of Nigeria (CNB) deadline for obtaining the Bank Verification Number (BVN) is today and,Nigerians are seen rushing to make sure they register.
BVN LogoThe BVN registration, which is mandatory for all account owners, must be completed before June 30th, 2015.
Office workers and business people are now spending days registering at their respective banks across the country.
According to Mrs. Blessing Daniel, a housewife, she has been going to her bank since June 22th without success receiving registration forms. Another bank costumer, Mr. Samuel Omede, a commercial motorcycle operator told SaharaReporters that “I have been coming here since Thursday 25th and I have not be able to get the forms.”
He added that “today is Monday and registration ends tomorrow. How are they going to get all this crowd registered between today and tomorrow?”
The CBN BVN Committee stated Monday morning that there will not be any deadline extension, except for the Nigerians in diaspora confronted with logistical challenges. As of Wednesday July 1st, any unregistered account costumers will not be granted access to operate.

4 Questions That Help Build a Winning Leadership Team

4 Questions That Help Build a Winning Leadership TeamBuilding out a company is not for the faint of heart. Heck, the mere thought of accountability, risk and potential failure is enough to make some people want to curl into the fetal position and suck their thumbs.
Developing a product that appeals to the masses can be daunting, but ensuring its lifelong success is a whole other factor. Doing so is only sustainable if your leaders know how to “set sail” in the right direction and keep that sail inflated indefinitely.
How do you know if you have the right leaders? That depends on your process for selecting new applicants and the questions you’re constantly asking to foster organizational improvement.
In the SEALs, whenever we were on patrol, there were three fundamental questions each operator would constantly ask himself:
    1. Is my gun up?
    2. Where would I go if we were contacted by the enemy?
    3. How can I support my buddy?
Of course, asking the same questions over and over for hours on end gets monotonous, so the occasional, “How am I going to beat the next level in HALO?” question would surreptitiously sneak in, too.
The takeaway here is this. What questions -- when asked repeatedly -- breed relevance and avoid obsolescence? In other words, what questions never get old, continue to foster growth, and directly apply to every situation?
If delivering value every day is part of your organizational “menu,” consider these four questions to drive perpetual leadership development:

    1. Who do we want to attain?

Notice the question isn’t how will we retain, but who. Organizational fit is everything. Skills can be taught, will cannot. In assessing the right leaders for the right role, strengths are an obvious area to consider as well as areas for development.
More important, though, is the degree to which that person demonstrates curiosity in perpetual improvement and takes the necessary steps to implement change. Curiosity without action is akin to a goal without a plan -- it’s just a dream.

    2. How will we train?

Sure, you can go the old death-by-PowerPoint route and watch eyelids flutter and heads bob and weave out of both boredom andexhaustion. Or, you can implement action training. Action training is just that -- live, in-the-moment training that builds muscle memory and helps inoculate against stress. When the metaphorical bullets are flying, you don’t rise to the occasion, you fall to the level of your training.
    Train hard. Train often.

    3. What do we want to sustain?

We all have good and bad habits. Having a routine helps us feel more secure and in control because there’s “structure” to guide us.
Organizations are no different, and when greater numbers of people comprise that habit, it’s worth analyzing whether that habit is productive or not. After all, habits comprise behaviors that equate to dollars, which translates to cost. If there’s a company habit that doesn’t promote progress, ask yourself what you can do to remove it. If doing so is above your pay grade, then consider what you can do to improve it.

    4. How will we retain our people?

If you’ve hired the right people then the question isn’t who do we want to retain (because you already have them) but rather how will you make them stay?
Daniel Pink, in his bestselling book Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us, posits the old carrot-and-stick approach of motivation is outdated. He argues that throwing more and more money at soon-to-be lost talent does nothing. Instead, he reveals three sources of motivation to resurrect employees from the trenches of company complacency: autonomy, purpose and mastery.
These are just sample questions with the intention to get you thinking about how to shape success. If you don’t plan for success, somebody else will get there first.source entrepreneur.com
