PORT HARCOURT— Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has promised to tackle the problem of multiple taxations in the state.
“What is important is commitment. The government has the political will to create a conducive environment. If we want investment to come into the state, then we must fight crime,” he said.
He said: “This will not only raise revenue for government but will also enable the business community to raise funds. Our mandate is clear: to make sure we improve the lives of our people and not to antagonise the Federal Government.”
Incoming President of PHACCIMA, Dr Emi Membere Otaji, said the visit was part of moves to consolidate the healthy relationship between the government and the business community.
On his part, the outgoing president of the body, Mr Emeka Unachukwu hailed the government for the unique attention given to growing the business community.
He enjoined the government to resolve the problem of multiple taxations in the state.
