Following news American Idol will return for one last final season, Simon Cowell has responded to the news, saying, "We had a blast!"

Cowell joined the show's cast as one of its original three judges in 2002 and stuck around until 2010 when he left to join the American version of his own show, The X Factor. In this time, he established a reputation for harsh, real talk and established himself as arguably the show's most memorable judge of all time.

In a statement, Cowell remembered "great times" with costars Paula Abdul andRandy Jackson, as well as host Ryan Seacrest. Cowell even remembered to recognize first-year cohost Brian Dunkleman, who's been largely forgotten after 14 seasons.
"We had a blast! Me, Paula, Randy, Ryan -- and not forgetting Brian. Thanks to the fans we were able to make some great shows and found some amazing artists," he said. "Fox took a risk on a brand new show and I want to thank them for giving us the opportunity. They really were great times."
He echoed those sentiments in his first tweet after the cancellation news:
