Before and after. |
Standing next to my
friend Alex, I hummed the song “emi n baller” by Chidinma featuring Da suspect
and Illbliss blasting out of my head phones. It was a bright Monday morning, as I looked, I saw a familiar face
and figure coming towards me I was taken
aback by the awkward situation and leaned towards Alex and whispered “na Tunde
be that?” I asked he looked up and said “no na, you nono say Tunde black,” we watched the person get close, lo and behold, he came closer, stretched
his hand,we had a handshake , ”how far na ?” He
asked “ Tunde you de bleach" I blared, I guess that was the end of a
little close friendship just heys and how fars every now and then.

Skin bleaching an
attempt to lighten the skin tone by reducing the amount of melanin contained in
the skin by various means .The word skin bleaching has been euphemized to skin
lightening and skin whitening to soothe
the targeted audience, bleaching has been has been put in its right
place from the very first time it go popular by the great artist Fela in his
single titled “yellow fever” the lyrics in the song (you de bleach o you de
bleach) is considered very offensive in Nigeria as you may lose a teeth or two
,I have wondered about why people bleach to become more attractive,
to boost their self- esteem. I do not see a reason why people should bleach , look , on the other side they are trying to be like Africans through sun bathing and tanning bed this process is called tanning .You are black and beautiful say no to bleaching.
